The Japan Foundation provides various courses depending on the learner’s Japanese language level and their specific requirements. All the Japanese language courses are open for anyone who wishes to learn the Japanese language and culture. The Courses have a standard curriculum given by appropriately qualified and experienced teachers under the supervision of the Language Education Advisor.
The courses will be conducted twice a year; however as the course schedules change every year, please regularly check the notice board and the leaflets in our office for the most up to date course schedules.

Beginners Course
This course is designed to provide beginners with basic level knowledge of the Japanese language and skills to utilize in daily conversations, reading and writing simple text in Japanese. This course will provide a foundation for learners who wish to progress to a more advanced level.
Intermediate Course
(Prerequisite: Completion of a Japanese language beginners course)
The focus of this course is to revise the basic Japanese language grammar rules and prepare students to acquire Japanese communication skills.
Advanced Course
(Prerequisite: Passing Level 2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test)
The aim of this course is to improve student’s Japanese language skills through various tasks and activities such as reading, discussions, debates, and writing reports & essays on various subjects.
JLPT Preparatory Course
The purpose of this course is to prepare students for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
Students will develop the Japanese language skills required for the target level via practice sessions using past test papers.
Japanese Language Course for University Social Science Students
This is a specially designed intensive Japanese language course for University Social Science students. This course started in November 2006 and will be completed in autumn 2008.
*New students will not be able to enrol on this course during 2007
