GUIDE TO THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSES
(2011 September Semester)

*Current University students majoring in Japanese can register for the following courses.

 25 September (Sun.) 2011 – 26 January (Thu.) 2012 16weeks

 
2-Course details  

1. Intermediate Japanese Course  Level 7

(twice / week)
  Every Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Completion of a Japanese Language Beginner’s Course.
Quota: 25students
The purpose of this course is to prepare the participants for the intermediate level. As well as revising what was learned in the Beginner’s Level, we will study the grammar, vocabulary, expressions and kanji necessary for advancing to the intermediate level.   
Textbook: "Chukyu E Ikou"

2. Intermediate Japanese Course  Level 8

(twice / week)

  Every Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Those who have previously studied the textbook "Chukyu E Ikou".
Quota: 25students
The purpose of this course is to raise the learners’ Japanese language proficiency in general by building upon the basis of what was learned in the textbook "Chukyu E Ikou", and increasing the learners’ repertoire of grammar, vocabulary and expressions. There will be exercises on listening, reading and writing about a certain theme, in order to raise the learner’s Japanese communication skills.
Textbook: "BUNKA CHUKYU NIHONGO 1"     Lesson 1 – Lesson 4

3. Intermediate Japanese Course 
Level 9

(twice / week)
  Every Monday and wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Completion of the Intermediate Japanese Course  Level 8
Quota: 10students
The purpose of this course is increasing the learners’ repertoire of grammar, vocabulary and expressions. There will be exercises on listening, reading and writing about a certain theme, in order to raise the learner’s Japanese communication skills.
Textbook: "BUNKA CHUKYU NIHONGO 1"     Lesson 5 – Lesson 8
 

4. Advanced Japanese Course 
Level 10

(once / week)
  Every Tuesday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Passing N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test "JLPT" or attainment equal to or higher than N2 of the JLPT or Completion of the Intermediate Japanese Course Level 9
Quota: 10students
The aim of this course is to communicate with Japanese people through internet (twitter & Ustream). This course is recommended to those who like the internet, but it's not necessary for applicants to be familiar with the internet in order to register.

5. Training for Reading Course
Level 10

(once / week)
  Every Wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Prerequisite: Completion of the Intermediate Japanese Course Level 9 or passing N3 of JLPT (not Level 3 of the old JLPT).
Quota: 10 students
The aim of this course is to increase the repertoire of vocabulary and Kanji. Students must read texts by themselves at home. They learn how to use new vocabulary and grammar rules and then discuss the content of the texts in class.

* We cannot refund the fees once you paid for any reason.
* You cannot use the amount you paid as fees for a future course.

 

4. How to apply

* There is another way to apply for those who are taking Intermediate or Advanced Japanese Courses now.

  Step1  Application
                   12 June(Sun.)- 14 July(Thu.)2011 9:00am~6:00pm
           Get an Application Form at the entrance (Price per Form: 5 L.E.).            Fill it in and then submit it with two photos.

  Step2   Placement Test ( see “5.Placement Test”)
                   18 July(Mon.)  6:30pm~8:00pm
                   
  Step3   Registration & Payment of course fees
                   20(Wed.)- 28 July(Thu.)  9:00am~6:00pm
            We will announce the results of the Placement Test at the entrance.
            Those who passed the exam can register and pay the course fees.

Venue: classroom at 3F

* Every applicant must bring pencils (or mechanical pencils) and an eraser. We will not lend them.
* Depending on the Placement Test results, Applicants may not be able to enter the Course they want.                           
* Every applicant must take this exam except for the following:
 ・Those who have completed Level-6 of the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Beginner’s
Course in June 2011.

 ・Those who took the Japan Foundation Advanced Japanese Course during the previous year.
