The Arabic translated versions of four Japanese children’s books were released under the special programme of the Japan Foundation for Arabic translation and publication of Japanese books, which was conducted in collaboration with Dar El-Shorouq and the “Association for 100 Japanese books” with an aim of introducing Japanese culture and tradition to the Arab countries.
These books were translated by Dr. Isam Hamza, the associate professor at Cairo University, and published by Dar El-Shorouq.
Two of these books are folktales; “Little Fingerling” and ”Magic Drum”, and the other two are very popular modern picture books; “Where is the Fish?” and “Friends”.
Furthermore, The Japan Foundation has donated some sets of these books to many schools and public libraries in Cairo, as well as to Biblotheca Alexandrina, and the Children Section of the National Cancer Institute.
